Beautifully loose painting – so lovely!
It has taken me a long time to get that loose! I’ve been working backwards from detailed sketches. I’m glad you like them as I like them too!
Loose, less liney
🙂
Yes! With the second one I managed to start off and stay with the colouring in. It feels like a real achievement
I get it
I’m impressed
Though I do admire your liney drawings
The lines will be back I’m sure. It’s just a minor miracle when something I intend actually happens. That probably sounds a bit over dramatic.
But it’s good to have a challenge and take yourself from your comfort zone. You might almost see that as one core value of an artist, rather than finding a style you can do or that people like and endlessly doing that one thing.
Your right. I’ve definately been more motivated lately by this. It all goes back to a reblog you did ages ago of contemporary paintings. There’s one i really liked of some fields and it led me off on a different trail. I will find it again at some point, i’ve not looked at it for a while.
I did?
Blimey I’ve forgotten that one. Now I’ll have to go and look.
I rarely reblog. I must have been impressed to have done so.
Found it – https://paintingowu.wordpress.com/2011/08/30/some-contemporary-landscape-paintings/
Stuart Shils.
Got it
I was doing an art class at the time and we were taking our lead from other artists. Through this I was introduced to the smoky abstract landscape work of John Virtue, and that led me to page of his contemporaries which inspired you.
It makes me think, I’ve stopped art classes – too little time. But they were helping me expand my horizons and challenge myself.
Wonderful brush work!
Thanks Caren. I’m chuffed people are liking these as I do too.
Sometimes as artists we set ourselves a goal ~ achieving it is a fab feeling ~ I know too 😉
Enjoy a lovely Christmas and a Great New Year with your family!!
Look forward to much more of your work in 2017!!
Yes you too Caren have a good one looking forward to your spring inspired creations next year
🙂
Love these! Well done. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Thank you Leonie. You too, have a good one!
I love these, so free.
Thanks Rosie, what a struggle to get there!
Worth it though. I have struggled with landscape for years as I always tried to put too much detail in. Last year’s adventures with standing stones really helped me to loosen up and break my dependence on obsessive representation.
