Went to see the George Bellows Exhibition at the RA and wanted to have a go myself. An exciting change from suburbscapes. See previous post for Andrew Reid Wildman’s original photo.

I think this is a stunning picture and my favourite in the exhibition alongside a snow scene. Walking around though I couldn’t help Enid Blyton keep coming to mind.

An unbelievably skilled watercolour, photo doesn’t do it justice.

A lovely late summer’s day family trip. Miro – liked the Quality Street and chair ‘personages’ best. Kids more interested in sheep.

An hour and a half on the park, quick drink in the cafe then a mooch round the exhibition, what great Sunday afternoon. We were amazed by what he’d created with watercolours. This one was one of the standouts for me as well as The Riot, the Denver (?) bar and the landscapes. I’d have a go, but I don’t think I can afford the paint.

Went to see this exhibition on Sunday with my good friend AP. We got there a bit later than intended and got the 10 minute warning less than half way round, so will need to go back at least once more. Amazing pictures and drawings and lots of inspiration. Thought it linked nicely with some building pictures I’ve been doing and the snaps I’d taken recently around town and in the kashubian potato fields where I walk to work. (The waste ground to work reminds me of the descriptions at the start of The Tin Drum). Rubbish photos I know, but they just show what I’ve been looking at.
