I don’t know why I think of it here, but somewhere I read that Paul Klee thought of drawing as taking a line for a walk. The comment just stuck in my head. Your drawings here radiate such energy and drama and mystery. Your line more like dances.

    • Hi. That’s a quote I’ve seen alot around art blogs, but didn’t know the source. It’s a lovely phrase. I was trying to use lots of different, quick mark making in these. Trying to respond quickly and intuitively. I find this easier to do with figures/faces. I’m glad the energy comes across. I think I need to start including the background more often, but the eyes want to dominate!

I meant to remark on something else that intrigued me in that sequence. The energy definitely comes across, and a kind of slashing freedom and variety of interpretation, but through it all there seemed to be a persistent likeness captured as well. Maybe it WAS the eyes! It makes sense that they would dominate, given your observational powers.

Noce mark making, I like the spontaneity.
