  1. Lovely. I am struggling to do anything right (in my mind). I bought tan paper and find my line becoming invisible. I am in a quandary.

  2. there is a great capture of mood settling down upon the scape, a surprising vibrant depth that contrasts with the color tones

    • Thank you ATI. I used to do buildings all the while, especially from this part of the city. Something made me want take a break from trees. I think it was trying to capture the light and subtle colour in something less tangible

Evocative, title and all…is this done on newspaper? (K)

    • Not these two, but the next one i did (to be posted next) was. The title is from a newspaper in a film I watched – the orange lights made me think of stars. Then the title must have suggested using newspaper, as well as the smudginess of newsprint and morning winter light. There ends the brief tour of my mind!

I knew where the title was from, that’s why I wondered. I have newspaper I use under my work, similar to the paper towels with paint I use in working, that I thought might be good for some art, but I haven’t figured out what to do with it yet. Maybe cut up and use as pieces in a collage.

        • You are tuning in to my blog title thinking! I did say to someone the titles had nothing to do with the paintings, but in a very long winded meadering way I suppose they do. I’m working my way, very slowly, through Time Outs 50 greatest westerns.

These work so well as a pair. The top one reminded me of the Glasgow painter Hilda Goldwag.

  5. Reminds me I must do some townscapes…! 🙂

Great pictures. Full of atmosphere. Thanks to memadtwo for elucidating the title.

    • Thanks. It’s become an almost mystical place to me as I’ve examined the early morning and snowy day light. First time in a while I’ve gone back to draw it. Went for the buildings, stayed for the light!
