    • Thanks Susan. Since taking a drawing workshop I’m trying to do things a little differently, juries still out on that though. I can remember doing some courses in my 20’s and being shocked at how older members of the group refused to try something different and even argued with the tutor on why they definately shouldn’t! I made a vow then that I would never do this, but it’s something to do with age and I had to remind myself of my vow at the recent workshop. Old habits do die hard!

  1. Don’t let the ‘monkey’ put words into your mouth. Critque by all means but direct that to how you will do things differently next time.

    • I already did Leonie – I changed a few things for the top one, but actually I often select post titles that rhyme or have rhythm, look back through a few, there’s loads of song lyrics in there too. I like how I can only say this phrase in a fabulously pompous, posh voice.

      • Didn’t mean to come on so strong but that was the impression that the title gave to me. I couldn’t hear you saying the phrase in your pompous voice 😀

        • Hi leonie, you’ve made a good point, I hadn’t really thought about the relationship between a title and the image, I’ve always seen them as separate, but that’s not what readers will necessarily think. I also find painting/drawing a constant challenge, never relaxing! I’m sure negativity creeps in easily on occassions. I’m trying some new things which is exciting but also makes me doubting. Your visits and comments always appreciated!!

To the other commentators here and to OA yourself … I was at that workshop and I can see how it’s really affected your drawing. I really like these.

    • I’m such a teacher’s pet! Am continuing it for now, not sure how long I will stay away from the bold line and block of colour. I don’t think I have the patience and control. Went to Oliver’s exhibition and was very impressed by all of his work btw.
